Recently, I wrote to Stephen Chapman, Chief Superintendent of South Yorkshire Police, to thank him for the introduction of mobile police stations as a first step in my campaign to re-open police stations in Maltby and Dinnington High Streets.

I am pleased that they have agreed to introduce mobile police stations to our area as a first step, thereby increasing the availability of officers to the public. My constituents and I am very supportive of any initiative to increase the visibility of police on the streets of Rother Valley. However, it is crucial that these mobile police stations are accessible to the public, both on our High Streets and also in the smaller villages of Rother Valley.

I now look forward to seeing these mobile police stations based in Rother Valley. Residents in Maltby, Dinnington, North Anston, Kiveton Park, Wickersley, Swallownest and Thurcroft, look forward to having these stations close to their communities, to enable them to feedback their concerns – in particular around anti-social behaviour – and to provide them with the assurance that the police are accessible and visible.

If you have any comments, please email me at [email protected].

The text of the letter which I sent is as follows:

Dear Chief Superintendent Chapman

Further to our conversations and my campaigning to re-open police stations on Maltby and Dinnington High Streets, I am pleased that South Yorkshire Police have agreed to introduce mobile police stations to our area as a first step, thereby increasing the availability of officers to the public. My constituents and I am very supportive of any initiative to increase the visibility of police on the streets of Rother Valley. However it is crucial that these mobile police stations are accessible to the public, both on our High Streets and also in the smaller villages of Rother Valley.

As you know, I want to see an increase in police patrols and visibility across Rother Valley, to clamp down on antisocial behaviour, to bring the perpetrators of child sexual exploitation to justice and support the victims, to tackle fly-tipping and rural crime, to establish a South Yorkshire Pet Theft Lead, and to host regular police forums for residents.

May I take this opportunity to thank you and your team for joining my recent online forum for residents which gave constituents opportunity to directly raise their policing and crime concerns with South Yorkshire Police. I know that Inspector Chris Blake, Neighbourhood Policing Team Rotherham South, and the rest of his team are keen to tackle our shared priorities. I look forward to working with you and supporting your continued efforts to tackle crime.

I look forward to seeing these mobile police stations on our local streets in the near future.

Yours sincerely
