CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN BACKS LOCAL MP’S CAMPAIGN TO REJUVENATE ROTHER VALLEY HIGH STREETS

  • Today the Conservative Party Chairman and Cabinet Member, Amanda Milling backed Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford’s campaign to secure £20 million in grant funding to rejuvenate local high streets.
  • Amanda Milling MP met with leaders of the Dinnington Community Land Trust & Dinnington Town Council to discuss the government’s £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund and voice her support for Alexander’s plans.

Today the Conservative Party Chairman and Cabinet Member, Amanda Milling MP, visited Dinnington high street to back local MP, Alexander Stafford, in his campaign to secure the £20 million in grant funding available for Rother Valley as part of the government’s £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund.

Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford is campaigning to encourage Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to submit a strong bid for this grant funding and, if successful, to use these funds to rejuvenate local high streets.

On her tour of Rother Valley, Amanda Milling MP met with David Dixon and David Johnston of the Dinnington Community Land Trust to discuss the Levelling Up Fund and the positive impact it could have in Rother Valley and its ability to deliver the Neighbourhood Plan. The community have been working on this for 3 years.

Amanda also visited Dinnington High Street and the surrounding areas to better understand the needs of local residents while supporting the Conservative candidates standing in the upcoming local elections.

Commenting, Alexander Stafford MP said:

“It is crucial that Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council submits a strong bid to secure the £20 million available in grant funding for local projects here in Rother Valley as part of the government’s Levelling Up Fund.

“I believe that our bid should focus on improving our high streets and shopping areas across Rother Valley, making them fit for the future by making them an attractive place to visit and shop.

“I am grateful to the Conservative Party Chairman, Amanda Milling, for coming to Dinnington, meeting with local leaders to discuss regeneration projects and supporting my campaign for better high streets.”

 

Commenting, Conservative Party Co-Chairman, Amanda Milling MP said:

“It was a pleasure to meet with local leaders in Dinnington to discuss plans for local rejuvenation projects as part of the government’s levelling up promise.

“Alexander Stafford MP is running a fantastic campaign to submit a bid for the £20m funding available from the levelling up fund.

“Alexander is leading the charge for levelling up across Rother Valley, from better bus services in Maltby to the rejuvenation of High Street’s across Rother Valley, and I wish him every success in his campaigns.”

 

Commenting, David Dixon of the Dinnington Community Land Trust said:

“The government’s generous Levelling Up Fund is a once in a generation opportunity to revitalise our community and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council absolutely must seize it.

“I am encouraged by the government’s commitment to levelling up left behind communities like Rother Valley and am hopeful that we will be successful in our bid for the £20 million available in grant funding for local rejuvenation projects.”

 

Commenting, David Johnston of the Dinnington Community Land Trust said:

“I am encouraged by the support of Conservative Party Chairman Amanda Milling and local MP Alexander Stafford in the campaign to rejuvenate Dinnington High Street.

“We must use the government’s Levelling Up Fund to invest in secure community infrastructure, upgrade eyesore buildings and create beautiful public spaces to inject new life into our town centres.”
