On Friday January 29th local MP Alexander Stafford volunteered at the Anston Medical Centre vaccination hub.
Alexander hailed the inspiring work of local GPs, nurses and other NHS staff for delivering vaccinations so efficiently to those most in need.
Staff at the vaccination centre were confident they would meet the government’s target of vaccinating the top four cohorts by mid-February.
Staff also said they will be continuing to vaccinate more people throughout this week, with home visits for those shielding or otherwise house-bound scheduled where possible.
On Friday alone, 655 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were administered at the centre.
More than 9.2 million people have now received their first vaccine dose in the UK.
Over 490,000 people have also received their second dose in the UK.

“Our dedicated NHS staff are doing inspirational work in getting our vaccination programme up and running and delivering thousands of vaccines to local residents across South Yorkshire every week. While they continue their vital efforts, we must all do our bit to help by continuing to stay at home and following the national guidelines that will help alleviate pressure on our NHS and save lives.”

It was exceptionally uplifting to see many of our elderly and most vulnerable receive their jab and I am so proud to have some real heroes living in Rother Valley.”
