  • Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford has called in Parliament for more PPE production jobs to be located in Thurcroft and Dinnington
  • Rother Valley towns have a strong textile heritage which needs to be utilised to meet increased demands for PPE

Alexander Stafford, MP for Rother Valley, has called on Parliament for PPE jobs to be located in former textile towns Thurcroft and Dinnington.

British PPE production has soared in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, with 70% of that in use in hospitals now made at home. This compares with just 1% at the start of the crisis. This speaks to the spirit of British ingenuity and represents a fantastic achievement; however, towns with a textile heritage should take the lead on driving forward this huge leap in manufacturing.

Commenting, Alexander Stafford said:

The increase in PPE production in this country in response to the pandemic is fantastic.

However, as I told the Minister of State for Health yesterday, we can do one better by utilising areas with a textile heritage here in Rother Valley, to further increase this country's domestic production of PPE.
