ALEXANDER STAFFORD MP SECURES £42.260 MILLION IN GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR LOCAL PARKWAY SCHEME

  • Rother Valley MP, Alexander Stafford has secured £4.260 million investment into the local Parkway scheme.
  • The Parkway scheme will upgrade the existing two-lane all-purpose carriageway to a three-lane all-purpose carriageway.
  • The development will be a huge benefit to the people living in and around Waverley and Treeton.

 

On Friday (16th October) the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, wrote to local Rother Valley MP, Alexander Stafford to confirm that the government will invest £42.260 million into the Parkway scheme, with construction able to take place immediately.

The Parkway scheme will see the existing road upgraded from a two-lane all-purpose carriageway to a three-lane all-purpose carriageway, with modifications also made to the intersecting M1 Junction 33.

This will greatly benefit people living in and around both Waverley and Treeton in Rother Valley.

Projects and investments such as these demonstrate the government’s commitment to the levelling up agenda.

 

Commenting, Alexander Stafford MP said:

“I am delighted to see the government will invest this level of funding into the Parkway scheme, which will be a huge asset to people living in and around Waverley and Treeton in Rother Valley.”

“Working with regional groups and authorities to help deliver local schemes that meet the needs of local communities is a principle that lies at the heart of this Conservative government and I would like to thank Rotherham Council for all their efforts in helping to get this project off the ground.”


Commenting, Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps said:

“I am pleased to announce that we are investing £42.260 million in the Parkway scheme. Working with regional groups and authorities to help deliver local schemes that meet the needs of local communities is one of the core aims of the Northern Transport Acceleration.”

“It is the vital co-operation on schemes such as this that NTAC aims to achieve with other infrastructure projects. It will give leaders from the North direct access to Ministers, allowing them to utilise their local expertise and knowledge so that the Department can accelerate investment in the North.”
