I’m very sorry to hear that there are plans to stop production at the Schaeffler plant in Wales Bar, with around 200 jobs at risk.
My thoughts are with all those affected by this announcement, coming at the worst time of year just before the festive period.
The company announced that it intends to discontinue operations at its Sheffield base, which produces clutch systems for cars and tractors. Production is to be moved to Hungary and India.
With Vauxhall announcing the closure of its van making factory in Luton earlier this week, it is a very difficult week for car making in this country - with rumoured more job losses to come.
